SINGAPORE : Universal Studios Singapore has closed a popular ride, Battlestar Galactica, for the time being due to a technical glitch.

The ride will be closed for at least a few days for a complete inspection.

The spokesman for the theme park, Robin Goh, said a technical problem was detected on one of the ride vehicles during the park's daily pre-opening testing on Thursday morning.

"In keeping with our commitment to employee and guest safety, the ride was immediately closed and will not be operating until we determine the cause and solution," Goh said.

Experts from the ride's design, engineering and manufacturing company are assisting the ride and show team in the inspection.

"No one was injured and all the proper authorities were notified, which is a standard Universal Studios Singapore operating policy," said Goh.

He stressed that employee and guest safety is the number one priority.

All rides go through a daily series of detailed inspections and testing before the park opens to ensure that all the safety systems are functioning properly.

"No ride will be operated at any time unless it has passed all daily inspections and tests," Goh said.

"We understand some guests may be disappointed. However, the safety of our employees and guests remains our top priority," he added.

Police said the safety authorities will work with Universal Studios Singapore to determine the cause of the problem.

It must also recommend rectification measures and re-certify the safety of the ride, before the license can be reinstated.

Mean while here is the preview of the Universal studio Singapore... watch the ride and enjoy it before you actually go there ... someday.... oh btw there is one more ride TRANSFORMER in the map it stated open on 2011... I think if you really want a good deal then you need to wait until this attraction open next year..

Titanic 2: The two surface coming soon....Sorry to disappoint you .... but the movie will never come into existence ... at least for now ..

This actually a trailer that made by Derek ... he took a snip shot from here and there and make it become this trailer ....

At first I didn't know it .... even though I notice that this trailer looks a bit funny but I never think that this is just Titanic Parody Trailer ... gosh...

Anyway here about the maker (He has done a good job btw)

About the editor/creator of Titanic: Two The Surface

"Hello!" to everyone taking interest in who I am. My real name isn’t Derek Johnson—that is a pen name that I decided to use for this project. My real name is Robert Blankenheim. I am 25 years old, reside in Los Angeles, CA, and am a graduate of Chapman University. I came up with this Titanic parody trailer idea over five years ago, but at the time I wasn't technically able to create it. In the past five years I have learnt how to use programs such as Adobe After Effects and Lightwave and they have helped me to transform my trailer idea into a reality.

This trailer was entirely of my own making—including the editing and the visual effects. It took 23 films and months and months of work, but I finally released it on April 3rd. Since then it has been viewed over 1.5 million times—more than I could ever have imagined! On one hand I wish I could have released it 5 years ago to beat the whole “mashup trailer” boom, but then again, I wouldn’t have had as much DiCaprio footage to cut from. So in the end I guess it was better that I waited.

I am completely amazed at how much my work has delighted so many people. I have received e-mails from people from all over the globe. I heard that the Hong Kong newspaper printed an article in their newspaper about my trailer, and a German company interviewed me last week for a feature article on their website. In addition, my trailer has been seen on VH1's "Best Week Ever" blog, CNN Headline News (TV), and a variety of other media channels.

I haven’t cut any other trailers yet but the ideas are sure starting. If anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to answer all of them.

Thanks again for enjoying my work.

—Derek “Bob Blankenheim” Johnson

Don't forget to Pay your Tax ... early :)

Thursday, March 18, 2010

Don't want to delay it? commit to yourself to do it by today!

here is a article taken from Strait Times... to give us an idea what will happen if we don't pay our tax

Tax headache for the dilly-dalliers
By Lorna Tan

There is nothing as certain as death and taxes, so the saying goes.

Together with more than 1 million taxpayers here, I'm reminded of this around this time of the year. The deadline for submitting a paper tax form is April 15 and if you e-file, it's three days later.

For those who have to pay income tax - that is, if their annual income is $22,000 or above - it is an annual mundane exercise. Suffice it to say, most of us do not look forward to it.

The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (Iras) has, to its credit, tried to make the exercise as painless as possible. It has introduced e-filing and encouraged more companies to participate in the Auto-Inclusion scheme so that their employees need not have to report their income details in their tax filing. In addition, it has initiated a 'no-filing' service scheme which will benefit 653,000 taxpayers this year.

Another initiative was to encourage taxpayers to step forward and voluntarily disclose any past errors in their tax returns. Doing so will attract lower penalties.

Iras categorises taxpayers into four groups:

    * Voluntarily compliant: These are the ones who will comply voluntarily with their tax obligations.

    * Unaware: There are some taxpayers who want to comply but may require some assistance in doing so.

    * Negligent: Some may not have given sufficient attention to their tax obligations

    * Errant: This refers to a minority of errant taxpayers who deliberately cheat or evade tax.

When I look back on my initial past experiences with the tax collector, I realise I fell into the second category.

As a new taxpayer, I was too complacent and didn't take the filing of income tax as seriously as I should have. That was in 1989 and I had just left my first employer, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef), where I had worked as a manpower specialist officer for almost two years.

I knew I had to file my tax returns by mid-April, but somehow I didn't receive my income details from Mindef. As the incident happened so long ago, the details have become hazy. Perhaps the correspondence from Mindef was lost in the mail or it was sent to my previous address as I had moved. But I remember telling myself that I need not file my tax return since I had not received the IR8A document from Mindef.

My attitude then was: 'Not my fault.'

For my non-compliance, I was slapped with a fine of $50 from Iras some time after the filing deadline, and a letter instructing me to file by a certain date or else be summoned to court. I quickly called Mindef for the document and filed accordingly. In hindsight, it was something that I should have done before the deadline.

Whether you are a new or existing taxpayer, here are the enforcement actions that you face if you do not file your tax returns on time:

Composition fee

Iras will send a letter telling you to file your tax return and pay the composition fee of up to $1,000 within 14 days from the date of the letter. The actual fee is dependent on your past filing and payment history.

Summons to attend court

A summons is an official order to appear in court. In other words, it is to inform you that prosecution action has started. It may be issued when your tax return is not filed by the due date.

If you receive a summons, you are required to turn up in court on the stipulated date. However, the summons will be withdrawn if you file your tax return and pay the composition fee at least four working days before the date fixed by the court.

Warrant of arrest

A warrant of arrest is an order from the court authorising the police to take a person into custody. It may be issued if you have not filed your income tax return, not paid the composition fee and not attended court on the stipulated date.

The police may arrest you or you may be asked to surrender yourself at the Warrant Enforcement Unit at Police Cantonment Complex.

When you report to the unit, you have to be accompanied by another individual who agrees to be your bailor. The latter has to pledge a sum of money as bail. This is because he will be responsible for you in case you don't appear in court on an assigned date. Should that happen, your bailor has to explain to the court why you were absent and the bail amount may be forfeited.

After you have reported to the unit, you will be given a new court date. You will have to file your tax return before this date and pay the composition fine. You are still required to appear in court so that your bailor's responsibility can be discharged.

Other legal actions
If you do not file your tax return for any year of assessment for two years or more, you will be slapped with a penalty equal to double the amount of tax that Iras may assess for that year of assessment and a fine of up to $1,000. If you cannot pay the penalty or fine, you will be jailed for up to six months.

As an added service which started last year, Iras is sending SMS reminders to taxpayers who filed late last year to encourage them to e-file earlier.

I'd urge readers to file early and not wait till the last minute. I had a bad experience a few years ago when my husband decided to file both our returns the evening before April 18 and he couldn't complete the e-filing because of the high Internet traffic. We ended up having to join a long queue of taxpayers at the Iras office in Newton Road the next day to complete the filing.

Feling not Fresh after Wake Up? - Recommended Foldable Bed / Mattress in Singapore

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Do You feel backpain after wake up?
Do You feel shoulder pain after wake up?
Do You feel Headache after wake up?
Do Your Body feel tired each morning?

Maybe it's time to change your mattress / bed ...

That's what happen to me ... every morning I woke up I feel discomfort on my back near my spine... I suspected this also lead to my prolong headache...

Anyway the best indicator is that when you wake up you feel not that fresh or uncomfortable even you have enough sleep and sleep early.

Anyway I'll go for the recommendation for the foldable mattress / bed in Singapore.

It's common for us to get visitor at our house here in Singapore, and sometimes we need extra bed ... we go to our friendly bed / mattress seller in our neigberhood but sometimes we are dissapointed because of the price tag and quality of the foldable bed.

So here you go ... a affordable, cheap, but with quality ...

Seahorse 3-Fold Bed .... and the price .... only S$36 for the heavy type.

You can look here for the promotion 50% + 10% (even though the promotion seems outdated but they still have it around the Singapore).

What you see is the 50% discount, when you go to the shop (I went there at 17 March 2010.. Don't know until when the promotion will last) they will give you extra 10% discount.

Below on the brochure you can see the shop address and phone number, which about the hotline number .... don't bother to call them ... asking do they have stock ... they will answer no and they don't know when the stock arrived and they have difficulties speaking English.... what a hotline..  maybe it's a Hongkong company, that's why they dont emphasize on chinese.

Anyway I dont believe what they said and I went to Tiong Bahru.... I see all the mattress and then all have the sticker paid ... I ask the guy when the stock is coming, he said about three weeks and he recommend me another type which cost me $80+ stock arrived on next week. I ask how about another outlet, he said it's the same because the warehouse don't the stock anymore. I felt unconformable as well speaking to him ....

Then I go to Suntec Seahorse ... Over there they have the stock ! but only one type the $80+ ... and for the $36 she said by Saturday or early next week the stock will arrived.  In the end I paid for the expensive 3 fold mattress and go back.

The review of the 3 Fold Bed / Mattress Seahorse ..... it's good ! it's hard as a rock and when I woke up this morning, I dont feel any pain on my back :)

Btw they don't come with warranty ... all their Mattress because of hygiene reason.

So I think if you think you need it soon, just book in advance for the $36, it's worth buying compare to your friendly neighborhood foldable bed. Recommended shop: Seahorse Plaza Singapore and Seahorse Suntec instead of Seahorse Tiong Bahru. Btw this is my own experience, it may different from other people.

If it's for your personal use and you will use it everyday I recommend you to buy the expensive one.. S$80+ I guess it's S$86 or $S89 really forget the price ... and when I Bought it? don't even dare to ask it hahaha.. it's on 17 of March ...

The difference is that the S$89 using high density foam which is harder and lighter.

This one is the S$36 Crystal 3 Fold Mattress
3 – Fold mattress which easy to pick up and storage.
Reasonable price, it is a nice choice for bargain – hunter

This one is the S$89 Healthy 3 Fold Mattress
eahorse Healthy 3 – Fold mattress, including the best selling No. 1 mattress all value for its hardness, durability, comfort, healthy, safety, appearance and superb value. 3 – Fold design is to make easy to pick up and storage, quilted cover, soft and appearance. It is one of the must buy mattresses.

Btw don't forget to buy the guilt / bed cover as well it's only cost you $11 (after 50% discount) ... literally they are having 50% for the whole item.

Million Dollar Lesson Motivational story for Monday Blue

Monday, March 15, 2010

A cab driver taught me a million dollar lesson in customer satisfaction and expectation. Motivational speakers charge thousands of dollars to impart his kind of training to corporate executives and staff. It cost me a $12 taxi ride.

I had flown into Dallas for the sole purpose of calling on a client. Time was of the essence and my plan included a quick turnaround trip from and back to the airport. A spotless cab pulled up. The driver rushed to open the passenger door for me and made sure I was comfortably seated before he closed the door. As he got in the driver's seat, he mentioned that the neatly folded Wall Street Journal next to me was for my use.

He then showed me several tapes and asked me what type of music I would enjoy. Well! I looked around for a "Candid Camera!" Wouldn't you? I could not believe the service I was receiving! I took the opportunity to say, "Obviously you take great pride in your work. You must have a story to tell."

"You bet," he replied, "I used to be in Corporate America. But I got tired of thinking my best would never be good enough. I decided to find my niche in life where I could feel proud of being the best I could be. I knew I would never be a rocket scientist, but I love driving cars, being of service and feeling like I have done a full day's work and done it well. I evaluate my personal assets and... wham! I became a cab driver.

One thing I know for sure, to be good in my business I could simply just meet the expectations of my passengers. But, to be GREAT in my business, I have to EXCEED the customer's expectations! I like both the sound and the return of being 'great' better than just getting by on 'average'"

Did I tip him big time? You bet! Corporate America's loss is the travelling folk's friend!

Jack Neo Press Conference with English Subtitle

Sunday, March 14, 2010

I think we all know about this hype... here is the Jack Neo Press Conference 3 days ago asking for apology and support with the English subtitle.

If you ask me an opinion about this matter...
well first he sure made a mistake and I don't support what's he has done but in the same time I don't want to judge him. Everyone made mistake but it doesnt mean it can be an excuse on what he has done. in other hand it's okay to be dissapointed for what he has done but it's not okay to judge him. I just feel that some people just made too much harsh comment in the blog / forum that meant to tear him down...

It's like what Jesus said in John ... "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." - John 8:7

Hope that he (Jack Neo) and his family can go through this and he can learn from his own mistake...

A word for us out there ...
A smart men learn from his mistake
A wise men learn from other people's mistake.

Where to buy Digital Camera in Singapore Recommended Shop

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Normally, I would love to go to Singapore IT Show and purchase my camera (in the past) but I don't anymore ....

Why? the reason is that sometimes Singapore IT Show give you the standard price (or RRP - Recommended Retail Price) + extra freebies that in the end I don't use it at all.

But it doesn't man you won't get a sweet deal in IT Show ... sometimes there is a good deal as well so open your eyes, don't just eliminate the possibility.

So where should I go if I want to buy Digital Camera? Any Recommended Shop? What's your recommendation?

Well the first thing is that to avoid Sim Lim and Lucky Plaza. Simply because there so many shops out there is cheating its customer. I always had bad experience with people in Sim Lim, the scold me just for asking price, giving me ridiculous cheap price but it the end it becomes a ridiculous expensive.

My recommendation is ...

1. MS COLOR
11 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8, #01-3501C
+65 6457-6380
http://www.mscolor.com.sg/
E-quote provided

2.Cathay Photo
Various Places
http://www.cathayphoto.com.sg/

3. John 3:16
Funan DigitaLife Mall
109 North Bridge Road #05-46
Singapore 179097
+65 6337 2877
http://www.john316photo.com

Ok, that's my recommendation for the Digital Camera Shop. So what to do next?

Simple ... after you decided what camera you want to buy ...
1. Call them or visit their place

2. Ask for the price + extra freebies + warranty
3. Compare and pick the cheapest ...

That's it ... even if you are confused it's better to go down to the shop and try out the camera ...

One more thing ... avoid Busy Hour ... such as dinner time, Saturday afternoon / Sunday afternoon.

Happy hunting ...

Do you know what happen yesterday at Ang Mo Kio bus interchange?

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

6 SBS buses wrecked in fire in Ang Mo Kio interchange Bus Depot... on 8 March 2010, Singapore

See the picture below taken from stomp

Ok to me it's look like some kind of alien invasion ... or maybe some fight between heroes ... are they real?
or hmm someone is using time machine and that's the explosion...  hmm look at the picture and you can imagine it yourself ;)

btw here is the news from strait times

SIX double-decker buses, worth about $3 million, went up in flames at the Ang Mo Kio bus depot yesterday morning.

Bus drivers arriving for work at the depot in Ang Mo Kio Street 63 were confronted by the acrid smell of smoke, and the burnt-out shells of the smouldering half-dozen buses.

'There were so many policemen and firemen around. I was shocked to hear that six buses had been burned...this is the first time I have seen anything like this,' said one 44-year-old bus driver, who arrived around 5.30am.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is currently investigating the cause of the fire, though it is not known at this point if someone deliberately set fire to the vehicles, estimated to be worth about $500,000 each.

The SCDF added that the fire was contained within the six buses, as the rest of the fleet was parked farther away. A security guard on duty raised the alarm. No one was hurt.

To ensure that morning services were not disrupted, buses were redeployed from other depots. The six buses all plied the No.25 route from Ang Mo Kio interchange to Bedok interchange.

See no news what caused the fire ... so it must be the one that I mention before...

Side Effect of 3-D Movies like Avatar for Children or Adult

Thursday, March 04, 2010

Hmm I need to limit myself not to watch too much 3-D movies ... here is the reason:

THE FACTS The epic science-fiction film “Avatar” has broken box-office records. But it has had some unwanted side effects.

Many viewers have complained that “Avatar” and other 3-D films give them headaches, nausea, blurred vision and other symptoms of visually induced motion sickness.

The problem, studies indicate, is that the films often cause unnatural eye movements.

Normally, when an object approaches a person, the eyes respond in two ways. They converge, or rotate inward to follow it (as an example, extend an arm with your index finger pointed up, then slowly pull it toward your nose). At the same time, as the object approaches, the eyes focus and maintain a clear image of it by changing the shape of the lens, a process called visual accommodation.

But a 3-D object flying off the screen causes sensory conflict. The eyes rotate inward to follow it, but they must also maintain a fixed focus on the display surface. So they converge without accommodating, an uncoupling of two natural processes that — over the course of a long movie — can be stressful.

There is no proven way to prevent this. But film buffs who have sat through multiple screenings of “Avatar” say one trick is to avoid looking at unfocused parts of the scenes, which sounds a lot easier than it is.

THE BOTTOM LINE 3-D movies can cause unnatural eye movements that induce strain and sickness.

Some interesting and unusual facts about our body

1: Tongue Print
Don't stick out your tongue if you want to hide your identity. Similar to fingerprints, everyone also has a unique tongue print!

2: Shedding
Your pet isn't the only one in the house with a shedding problem. Humans shed about 600,000 particles of skin every hour. That works out to about 1.5 pounds each year, so the average person will lose around 105 pounds of skin by age 70.

3: Bone Count
An adult has fewer bones than a baby. We start off life with 350 bones, but because bones fuse together during growth, we end up with only 206 as adults.

4: New Stomach
Did you know that you get a new stomach lining every three to four days? If you didn't, the strong acids your stomach uses to digest food would also digest your stomach.

5: Scent Remembering
Your nose is not as sensitive as a dog's, but it can remember 50,000 different scents.

6: Long Intestines
The small intestine is about four times as long as the average adult is tall. If it weren't looped back and forth upon itself, its length of 18 to 23 feet wouldn't fit into the abdominal cavity, making things rather messy.

7: Bacteria
This will really make your skin crawl: Every square inch of skin on the human body has about 32 million bacteria on it, but fortunately, the vast majority of them are harmless.

8: Source of Body Odor
The source of smelly feet, like smelly armpits, is sweat. And people sweat buckets from their feet. A pair of feet have 500,000 sweat glands and can produce more than a pint of sweat a day.

9: Sneeze Speed
The air from a human sneeze can travel at speeds of 100 miles per hour or more -- another good reason to cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze -- or duck when you hear one coming your way.

10: Blood Distance
Blood has a long road to travel: Laid end to end, there are about 60,000 miles of blood vessels in the human body. And the hard-working heart pumps about 2,000 gallons of blood through those vessels every day.

11: Saliva Quantity
You may not want to swim in your spit, but if you saved it all up, you could. In a lifetime, the average person produces about 25,000 quarts of saliva -- enough to fill two swimming pools!

12: Snore Loudness
By 60 years of age, 60-percent of men and 40-percent of women will snore. But the sound of a snore can seem deafening. While snores average around 60 decibels, the noise level of normal speech, they can reach more than 80 decibels. Eighty decibels is as loud as the sound of a pneumatic drill breaking up concrete. Noise levels over 85 decibels are considered hazardous to the human ear.

13: Hair Color and Count
Blondes may or may not have more fun, but they definitely have more hair. Hair color helps determine how dense the hair on your head is, and blondes (only natural ones, of course), top the list. The average human head has 100,000 hair follicles, each of which is capable of producing 20 individual hairs during a person's lifetime. Blondes average 146,000 follicles. People with black hair tend to have about 110,000 follicles, while those with brown hair are right on target with 100,000 follicles. Redheads have the least dense hair, averaging about 86,000 follicles.

14: Nail Growth
If you're clipping your fingernails more often than your toenails, that's only natural. The nails that get the most exposure and are used most frequently grow the fastest. Fingernails grow fastest on the hand that you write with and on the longest fingers. On average, nails grow about one-tenth of an inch each month

15: Head Weight
No wonder babies have such a hard time holding up their heads: The human head is one-quarter of our total length at birth but only one-eighth of our total length by the time we reach adulthood.

16: Need for Sleep
If you say that you're dying to get a good night's sleep, you could mean that literally. You can go without eating for weeks without succumbing, but eleven days is tops for going without sleep. After eleven days, normal person will be asleep -- forever!

The truth is ....

The same apply after you move to the other side ....

So stop thinking if out of complaining you think something like

"Well I have iPhone ... I think it's better if I have Blackberry"
"Well I have Canon now ... but I think Nikon is better"
"I think working in Singapore I have a better life .... but after you are here you think Indonesia it's a better place"

Don't get me wrong not ... thinking something is better is not always wrong ... if it's come from what you need... not what you would like to have....

Thinking to move back to Indonesia because of family concern, it's different with thinking to change camera from Canon to Nikon because you think Canon is better Nikon  (In fact actually you don't have any need to change your camera ... well of course if you really need it then change it).

Well I believe you understand what I'm trying to say here ...

Just remember this two thing if temptation is at your door ....

Give thanks and Remember the Grass is Always Greener at the Other Side and the same apply when I'm at the other side...
